Breeze Block Installation Guide

Overview

Breeze blocks add a retro, stylish design element to your space. Proper installation is key to achieving the best results. Follow this guide for successful installation and long-term performance.

Step 1: Preparing the Foundation

Ensure a clean, level foundation capable of supporting the wall’s weight. The base should be stable, free from debris, and suitable for mortar application.

Step 2: Selecting the Mortar

Use high-quality cementitious mortar that meets ASTM standards. We recommend a 2-inch mortar layer to maintain stability as the structure is built up.

Step 3: Setting the Blocks

  • Start at corners or structural supports and work towards the center.
  • Submerge each block in water for 1 minute to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the mortar.
  • Install blocks using a 5-10mm grout joint and standard masonry techniques.
  • Reinforce the structure with steel rebar every third course for added strength.

Step 4: Grouting

Wait 24-72 hours for the blocks to set before grouting. Use light-colored grout for pale tiles and vice versa. Apply the grout diagonally across joints, avoiding excessive grout on tile surfaces.

Step 5: Post-Installation Care

Maintain proper hydration of the installation for at least 7 days by watering the surface regularly. Apply a solvent-based sealer for added protection if using raw blocks.

Maintenance Tips

Clean tiles with mild soap and avoid harsh chemicals. Reseal periodically based on foot traffic and exposure.

Important Notes

Breeze blocks are decorative and not load-bearing. Consult with a structural engineer for large installations and always follow local building codes.
